About Dr. Heather Clinkenbeard
Dr. Heather Clinkenbeard (PSY31273) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the areas of sexual health, sexually compulsive behavior, infidelity, betrayal trauma, addiction recovery, and working with impaired professionals (i.e., those who hold a professional license such as doctors/attorneys/nurses, C-suite level jobs, or those who have experienced boundary violations in the workplace due to their addiction). Additionally, Dr. Clinkenbeard helps clients who are working on addressing relational problems, sexual identity issues, anxiety, depression, abuse history, grief, health issues, and spiritual issues.
She believes that each client, both individuals and couples, have a unique story to tell and she is committed to helping her clients share and explore the struggles they face. She understands that therapy can be a difficult, yet rewarding process and works with each of her clients to determine the best approach to address the issues they face.
Dr. Clinkenbeard began working with clients in 2007 and started specializing in the area of addiction and sexual issues/health in 2011. She finished her doctoral training by completing her APA (American Psychological Association) approved internship at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services (a division of Forrest General Hospital) in Hattiesburg Mississippi. At Pine Grove, where she worked in one of the top residential treatment centers for sexual addiction and intensive outpatient programs for impaired professionals. In addition, to her time at Pine Grove, Dr. Clinkenbeard has worked in a community counseling center, Orange County public schools, and a private non-profit counseling center. Dr. Clinkenbeard received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School in Pasadena, CA. She also holds a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Graduate School. Dr. Clinkenbeard is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). In addition to her graduate work and certification, she has received specialized training through IITAP (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals). Dr. Clinkenbeard is now in private practice and works in the Irvine/Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, California area.
